God listens to our prayers!

Today my heart is filled with gratitude. Thankfulness. Love. And the most important thing... the feeling that I KNOW my Heavenly Father is listening.

I have cried so many tears today. HAPPY TEARS! God listened to my prayers, the prayers of my husband and the sweetest prayers of my 3 year old little boy along with the prayers of many hundreds and hundreds of family and friends. Some whom I've never even met. All for my sweet little angel boy, Mason.

We got the most amazing news today. The Lymph Nodes that were removed from Mason's neck last Wednesday showed NO signs of Melanoma! This is great news! This peace of mind could only have come because of that surgery. There were so many questions and what ifs clouding our head before that surgery and now they are all gone.

Having the knowledge that the chances of my son living a long and cancer free life has gone up dramatically and it feels good! My prayer has always been the same. Heavenly Father, Please make him cancer free. Take it away. All of it! And please help me to make the right choices for my sweet angel boy.

I believe that surgery was the right choice. And after a lot of long and hard prayers and consideration, we believe the next right choice is to have my son receive the one month (4 weeks) of Interferon treatments. Those treatments should begin in two weeks from today so long as Mason continues to get better and heal well. By the way.. the treatments will be given to him as an outpatient. More EXCELLENT news! We were told wrong by a doctor that he would remain in the hospital during that time. What a relief to know that he gets to be at home. In his own bed. I can have both my babies sleeping under the same roof at night and Shane and I wont be separated for a month! Yes in deed God is listening to my prayers!

Life for Mason was a little tough after his surgery last week. He was in a lot of pain. He had a drain tube inserted behind his left ear to drain the area where the lymph nodes had been removed in his neck. He was afraid to move or turn his head. He didn't speak louder that a whisper (he's normally yelling!). He would barely sit up to eat, and refused to get out of bed to use the restroom. Any sort of food that he decided he wanted to eat, he would throw up. He refused to take any sort of pain medications orally so everything he was getting was through his IV. It was pretty tough for him for a few days. Finally on the very last day he decided he was going to be tough. And even though he was in a lot of pain, he wanted to get up and go down to the play room at the hospital to just "Have a look". The hospital has a great program for the children, and within minutes one of the girls came up to take him down in a big red wagon. Once he made that decision to go to the play room, it was as though someone had turned on a light switch inside of him and his recovery improved dramatically and within hours the doctors thought it was best to let him go home to heal. Once he got home, he has gone back to the old Mason that we know and love.. and he's been eating like a horse! lol!

Our own personal little rain cloud that has been following us around is going to go away, and I'm looking for that rainbow! Our next step is to pray for a speedy recovery and healing from this surgery and to pray that he tolerates the Interferon treatments well.

We have so much to be thankful for today. Thank you Heavenly Father. Thank you!

I'm so so happy for you guys! We'll be in Southern CA at the very end of August to celebrate Truman's 4th and go to my sister's wedding (San Diego). Hope to see you all (including a healthy, happy, Mason -- and finally meet Charlotte) then! Love to you all, Sarah
