Mason and Manors

So I've been trying so very hard to teach Mason good Manors. For the most part it's been working out pretty good. Most of the time I have to coach him when to say 'Please', when to say 'Thank You', to say 'Excuse me', etc. Today in a few minutes he managed to get all of his manors in. I was signing the back of a check at the bank and Mason politely says, "Mommy need Help?" So cute! So I told him "Yes Please!" and I gave him his own pretend check to color on. Then we gave the check to the teller he repeated after me, 'Cash, mommy, please!' and when she gave us back the money Mason said 'Tank yoo!". Again, I was super impressed and proud of him. And as we were walking out, he bumped into a man's legs and promptly said... 'Cuse me!'. I just had a big smile on my face. I'm glad to know that all my efforts are starting to pay off! I was laughing all the way to the car. I can't believe how big he's getting. He's starting the Terrible Two phase of life and some days I get so tiered of the tantrums, but then his cute little sweet personality comes shining through and reminds me how much I truly love that kid... even on the hardest days!

Super Duper Fun Easter Weekend!

We just had the BEST Easter weekend! I'm so excited to share our pictures!

We started off Saturday morning with an Easter Egg Hunt at the neighborhood club house. It was Mason's very first one and he was so cute! First of all, that poor kid who was dressed up as the Easter Bunny! Mason was attached to the Easter Bunny's legs... literally.. for half of the morning. We'd set him loose and he would bolt straight towards the Easter Bunny, wrap his arms around his legs and just stand there and hug and kiss and hug and kiss.





When we finally got him to realize that there was loot to be found, he left the Easter Bunny alone for a few minutes to get eggs. He would pick up an egg and crack every single one open to see what was inside before he'd put it into his basket. Here is a picture of all the Dahl Kids at the Park. Later that day we dyed Easter Eggs with Mason. I think 2 out of the 12 we dyed made it out ok. The rest were cracked, dropped, broken, squeezed, poked. And he loved EVERY single second of it. Shane couldn't remember the last time he dyed Easter eggs, so it was fun to see the big kid come out in Shane as well. Mason was a pro at the whole thing. He would take the spoon and transfer the egg from one color to the next and back again. Most of the eggs turned out brown with hints of fabulous color, but that's okay! He did it and he loved it!

Modesty IS best!

So anyone who knows me, knows I have been planning to be in a wedding this coming June. It's my best friend from High School's wedding. I absolutely LOVE her! There are very few people in this world I can pick up the phone and call and say anything to and she will just sit with me and laugh and laugh and laugh. She moved to Wisconsin when she was 22. It seems like she's been gone forever. It makes me sad that she isn't close by, but thank heavens for modern technology. We just got our bridesmaid dresses this past week. It seems like we ordered those things years ago! So I brought mine home (strapless) along with the extra fabric I bought so I could have sleeves added and tried it on. It fit perfect! I then proceed to start making calls to seamstresses to get the ball rolling. I go onto the LDS Brides website to get some inspiration for how I want this dress to look on top and my jaw drops. There it is. The EXACT SAME DRESS... except, OF COURSE, with sleeves. No joke. You don't even know how much money I've already spent on the strapless one. So you can imagine my shock when I find the exact same dress online at this point (which by the way, when we were ordering these dresses I checked LDSBrides to be sure and that dress WAS NOT there!). UGH! So I think, well... already have this dress, and the extra fabric so I can have it made to look like THAT dress. Let's just see what it will cost me. One trip to the seamstress and I was coughing and chocking! It was big bucks$$$ to add sleeves. SO, this morning I decided that I was going to just buy the other dress and be done with adding sleeves. I'm super excited about this, even though all this dress business is costing me an arm and a leg. It all comes down to a principle that I strongly believe in and will stand true to. MODESTY. We should always dress ourselves in order to bring out the best in ourselves and those around us. The price tag may sometimes be big, but I do believe it's worth the message we convey.

P.S. I have an extra dress (strapless) with 3 extra yards of nice pretty black satin fabric if anyone is interested! haha! =) I may just use the fabric to make a wrap of some kind so I can get my money's worth.

Today....I... am A Honorary citizen of Disneyland!!!

My mom and I did our usual Thursday Disneyland trip this morning. Everything about the day was normal UNTIL mom decided she was hungry and wanted to get some lunch at the Pizza Port. I had packed my lunch for Mason and I, so I wasn't planning on ordering anything. We walk in and we were greeted by a nice sweet girl who asks us if we would like to take part in their special dinning experience today where they SERVE US! So we say sure. She proceeds to walk us through the dinning area straight to a booth with a special table that has a reserved sign on it. It had a real white table cloth with real napkins and silver wear. Now if you've ever been to the Pizza Port before I wouldn't call this place classy, so it really did look like we were being given the star treatment. I decided at this point it would be in bad taste if I were to pull out my prepared salad, Chicken Salad sandwich and applesauce. So I kept my humble little meal in my backpack. She then proceeds to take our order from special menus just for us. Brings us our sodas in real glasses and served us our meals on real China. After the meal was over she gave us a special menu that all the employees had signed and some buttons that said we were Honorary Citizens.

It's kind of like it was our birthday, and mom let us eat off the special "You are special today" Red plate that she only brought out for special occasions. Anyway, this may not seem like it was all that big of a deal, but to us... we got to take part in a little piece of princess just for today!
